Take Time........

I spent today doing a mixed-media piece in my new Moleskine journal. This is a double page spread, 8" x 10".
I tore a previously drawn face from my sketchbook and stuck it down along with some torn tissue, text and painted text (made by Patty and used to wrap one of the gifts she sent me).
Then I added paint, stamps, words, ribbon etc.
Close-ups.......

The words say...... 'Take time each day to sit quietly and listen'. They are from a lovely painting Sesga sent to me a long time ago, so I hope she won't mind me borrowing them.

This is stage one of my next project. I drew the face on cartridge paper, tore it out and stuck it down onto wood.
Its going to have a lot of paint, crayons, ink and modelling paste added to it. It will possibly become Mary....like SuziBlu's example.
I hope I don't spoil her!

Your journal page is absolutely beautiful and everything you have used to create the background blends so well with what you have put on top - or vice versa. I would love to be able to do something like that. Perhaps I shall just have to start and see what happens.

You did a great job~! I hate to repeat other comments, but I too love the colors! Matted and yes so rich.

your faces are just lovely!!...
never heard of cartridge paper...so i am gonna search for some
i am guessing it must be sorta like tissue paper but maybe heavier
i don't see where you have a heavy paper affixed to your wood as the beginning for the project...
i am all for an easier way to transfer my sketch without messing the original up
especially when the shade has been begun so well..like here!
great great job and tip!

How wonderful Linda!!

There is a PPS (likeBBC) show, has been on for years. It's a basic oil painting class. The instructor's name is Bob Ross. He has this pet phrase There are no mistakes in art just happy accidents!! :) That use to be my kids favorite phrase when we were working on a project! :)

Wow, it's beautiful! I love the colors you used and your sketch turned out lovely. I am just starting out and I have not tried tissues yet, I think I am going shopping today so I can try this technique! This was very inspiring. Hugs, Vickie

Fantastico!!!! I love her soft expression and her nose is perfect, your shading is a hundred times better than mine, but I try not to let it bother me LOL.
I love the text stamp over her face, I am still afraid of that part, just love it all :)
I can just imagine how beautiful your wooden piece will be Linda. I have played with mine on and off for a few days now and it is a lot of fun:)

OH My Dear Linda!!! I am speechless, I saw your lovely Maria first = you certainly did not spoil her! You made her come alive so magically with golden shimmer and stars.
And your journal page, you've turned ordinary ingredients (not including your sketch of course) into magic...I adore the look and feel of this!
After seeing how beautifully you and Lynn have taken to sketching I am afraid to sign up for SBlu's class....it's a high standard you two have set!!!
