Arty Girlz Challenge

As its my favourite colour, I just had to have a go at the Arty Girlz challenge this week!
'The challenge is to have the colour BLUE as the main feature on your creation. '
I used techniques I've learnt from Sarah.
I stuck down torn print and patterned paper, dry brushed over with white and blue paint, stamped using a white stamp pad, added pictures from magazines and finally doodled the writing freehand. It measures 9" by 6" approx.
Actually the main thing I've learnt from Sarah is to be brave and not think too much about what you're doing but just have a go.

PS Some of you have asked if I'm going to show the last 4 pages from my Journal in full. I'm still working on them and want to show them when they are finished.

Close ups

Just a few close ups of my little houses; I loved making these.
Pictures are from Artchix, Digital Collage Sheets, 'Supplies to go' (Etsy) and Lunagirl.
The curly tree stamp is from the Squiggly Ink Collection (Paper Artsy) which I bought from Scrapz.

A Dangly Thing

Rosie made one of these 'dangly things' for me and I was so taken by it I couldn't wait to have a go myself.
I've bought a few frames so I can make some for presents, but this is my first attempt so it isn't really good enough to give away.
The frames are from Artchix - a wonderful American site that sells collage sheets, 3D houses to decorate and Dreamboxes (metal shrines with glass doors). They show examples of what you can make with all their items, too, so its very inspiring.
My little collage is covered with Glossy Accents which I bought from Karen's shop.
Have you seen Karen's challenge? Its a good one!
I've almost finished mine, I just need some words.
She's got a lovely prize up for grabs, so go and have a look.

Thanks for all the kind comments about my new picture - Rosie said I had to change it because the other one didn't look like me!

Printing onto Fabric

I'm really pleased with my first attempts at printing images onto fabric. I know they aren't perfect, but with practice will hopefully get better. I used INKJET TRANSFER PAPER from Photo Paper Direct. It cost £12 for 20 sheets incl p&p.
Its so simple to use...just print out an image and iron it onto fabric. The instructions come with the pack.

I've been playing with my sewing machine today - I love machining onto card.
On the first ATC I used gesso and ink pads for the background. The large flower was stamped onto Angelina fibres and machined down, the small flower is the same stamp on shrink plastic. Finally the words were printed on calico and machined down onto the card.
The second ATC has a collaged background. The face and the word were printed on calico and stitched down. You probably can't tell, but I zig-zag stitched the whole thing onto sheer blue fabric and card.
I'm really pleased with these; they are more shimmery in real life.
Click on the pictures for a closer look.
If anyone wants to trade, let me know.
You might not get these...but I'll make more!
Hugs
Linda xx
PS I'll show how to use Angelina fibres tomorrow.

Be filled with Wonder and Peace.....and Cosiness

I hope you're managing to embrace this change of season. I'm so much better at accepting the end of summer than I used to be. I...
