Fleur

This is my first attempt at painting on wood. Suzi suggests we use birch plywood because it doesn't have much grain.
I have my pile ready! I've decided I'm going to use small pieces; 6"x6" and 12"x6".
This was step one.....draw the face using pencil crayons.Step two.....glue on the dress.Step 3.....stamp and stencil.Step 4.....paint with acrylic mixed with a glaze medium to make it more translucent.Step 5.....paper napkin flowers glued on.

She's not quite finished.....I want to write her name on somewhere and then I'm going to cover it all in beeswax. I'd never drawn or painted people until I started this course so I'm fairly happy with what I've done up to now. I'd like to develop more of my own style in the future - she's a bit too twee for my liking! But that will only come with practice.

PS I will learn to do arms soon.

I can just see your confidence building as you show us each of your pieces. I love seeing the progression through each stage. This gal looks so contemplative and at peace.

Fantastic Linda, you inspire me to find some of that birchwood ply (may have to go into Melbourne, they dont have any out in the sticks where I live).
What are the crayon pencils you have used and which glaze? (I am wondering if you have your Stewart Gill paints/glazes etc. yet).
Your work is amazing, love visiting for a peek at what you are up to....

Are you taking an online course? You are doing superbly with faces. I love these pieces. I would like to do something like this, learn something new. Any suggestions on finding something online? Thanks!
Love the pieces.

Beautiful Linda. I think your faces , and bodies, and arms (he hee) are developing perfectly. I love the background colors on this one.

Working with beeswax is fun - and smells so delicious. I recently made a couple of sequin waste backgrounds with wax and alcohol inks and loved the smell of the wax as it melted....yummm..
