I've found something that I really love about photo editing..... the colour-changing modes are wonderful! There's something called 'difference' in the layers section and 'hue/saturation' in the adjustments. If you have Photoshop, I recommend you check them out.
I used Lynn's lovely coneflower seedhead photo (its an amazing image even before you do anything to it!), added a fine layer of one of my waxed papers, then started playing around with the colours.
I can see this becoming an embroidered picture...just as soon as I can get good quality prints onto fabric (still experimenting with that).

I love echinacea flowers and the colours you have achieved in your edited version are just glorious. I really must stop looking at what others are doing as I then want to have a go myself. What with the temptations of editing digital photos and using an embellishing machine it's little wonder I don't get enough of my own work done!! I shall sneak back to see what else you have done - I'm addicted!!
Absolutely gorgeous and it will make a fantastic embroidery. I love the way that the blending modes and the colour enhancements give such amazing results.

This is absolutely gorgeous Linda - the colours are just amazing. I love it so much, I have to keep going back for another look. I can't wait to see what you do embroiderywise with it. I'm so glad the group will be still up for quite awhile as I haven't had a chance to do anymore of the class yet. But I have the weekend off so I'm going to get stuck into doing the exercises then.
As you say this would make a fantastic fabric picture...have you tried bubble jet set to print onto your own fabric. I have been using this and its quite good or perhaps t-shirt transfer paper or canvas sheets for your printer...looking forward to seeing what you try

I am so glad you have showed the before and after of this picture as your glorious colourful version is so very far away from the original, which is lovely as well although I much prefer your colourful version!
Now it may be just me, but in the original version in the bottom left hand corner it looks like boobs with some rolls of belly fat underneath??
