Soul Journal pages 7 and 8....part 2
I am ashamed to say I posted a picture of these pages last night - then deleted it half an hour later. I'm struggling with the naive quality - but that's not what this journal is about. This morning I have decided they are ok (-ish).
My favourite houses are the ones I see on Greek islands and these drawings are supposed to represent the manor houses on Symi. They are really beautiful and they are all set in the hillside overlooking the amazing harbour.
Here's the pocket in my house - awaiting more instructions!

Linda I am so glad you re posted, my google reader picked it up and I went to comment but then it was gone. I have to say I don't find anyting naive about this page, the colours and syle with which you have painted the sky particularly is very sophisticated. I love the painterly way you have completed this work. It looks simple rather than naive. Does this make sense? I wanted to say have aith, all is not what we feel sometimes.
Linda ..I love your pages..they are as they're meant to be...
Mine look like one of my grand kids did them..and thats OK too...I'm just going where this journey takes me..
Oh goodie you posted it again. As I couldn't comment I commented on the previous post and as I said Linda, your painted housed are lovely and have a charm of their own and I find out that you are a good painter too. You are so very talented.
Im glad you have re posted Linda, I like them, I know what you mean but this is all new for you.....you have atc's and dolls and russian dolls etc all off to a fine art and im sure you feel that way because this is all new, but you have nothing to worry about , its lovely and im sure before long you will be doing more and feeling right at home. Art is all about expression at the end of the day, no right or wrong way to do it......Smile, you are doing a great job, Jaqi x
LInda your pages are fantastic!!! (Arent we our own worst critics). So glad you put the post back up for us to see.
I will post a picture of mine tomorrow. My day today was soooo full I didnt have time to even look at my art, but tomorrow for sure.
My hubby and I went to see Mama Mia tonight so I know what you mean about those greek houses....FANTASTIC movie (might go again tomorrow.... so nostalgic).
I'm glad I decided to skip on over to your cyberhood! The colorful, cozy houses beckon to at least stay for a cup of tea!
I tried my hand at waterpainting once and found it magically therapeutic and fulfilling - I always said one day I'll take some classes - Your fun, expressive projects are inspiring! Perhaps here in LA, is one more teacher ready to stay home and paint!!
PS, thanks for you lovely comments before---

Your pages are just wonderful! Yours are sophisticated as far as journals go...you wanna see naive, go see mine...lol! I like the soft use of colors you chose and the detail. Way cool. glad you shared. I'm learning a ton just seeing others tecniques and style.

You're much too hard on yourself, Linda! Your houses are great! Are you doing this project as part of a challenge or a class?
Linda, I'm very glad you decided to post these. They are so lovely. Fresh and detailed with beautiful color and right from your heart as far as what you like. I just love them. I want to live there and look at the stars.
WOW! Symi! We went there last year. Its fab but the kali strata is a bit of a climb.
Lovely work as always.
I Love your houses!!! I think they are amazing I really mean it , you are a fantastic Artist.
We all too quick to criticize ourselves!
We all do it .
Love from sesga xx
you should refer back to your armour page...shame on you for being so hard on yourself!...

:-)
i am enjoying your inspiring pieces very much
Wonderful work!!! :o)
Tag! your it! I nominated you for an award!
I think your pages are very pretty myself, and I love the colors they feel as though it is a quiet and tranquil place.
They are not "ok-ish" they are beautiful! I absolutely love them! I love the colours and the newsprint and the lettering. I always find that the things I make that I don't think are very successful tend to be the peices that everyone else likes. Each to there own I suppose.
Thankyou for your lovely comment.
Kylie was amazing and fab as always and I absolutely love Mamma Mia! It's so funny and Julie Walters is so much like my auntie lol!
Hi Linda, I am very glad you brought your pictures back. I could tell right away where they are depicting (I'm originally from England) and they made me feel warm and nostalgic. You have a unique voice, and I'm glad you're sharing it with us. Please keep going, and don't listen to those sensor voices - your muse knows whats right. Hugs, Jane
well, your houses are lovely and your colors are just beautiful. they are so calm and do indeed remind me of the picture of the greek island homes. since this is just a journal i think it is ok to let go a bit and try / experiment with a style that wouldn't be something you would normally create.
So so pretty! I am SHOCKED that you don't like your houses. Seriously, they are gorgeous.
Now where did you put that armor? *looks around*
*HUGS*
