Birthday Weekend

Just had a wonderful birthday weekend......spent Saturday with Maggi at a Living Threads workshop creating pictures on our embellishing machines (see above). They aren't finished yet; I intend doing some hand-stitching and beading.
Then on Sunday I got lots of lovely presents and went to a fab restaurant for Sunday dinner with my husband, son, daughter and mum. Happy days!!
Peachy sent me a card - of course ;-)

Yesterday afternoon whilst playing with my new(ish) Panasonic Lumix camera I discovered a macro setting and had fun playing with that for an hour. Results aren't great yet...but I'll keep practising! (DH keeps saying 'read the instruction manual!' but I'd rather find out by playing and fiddling. Anyone else like me? ( I HATE manuals)
Cone flowers, fuchsia, clematis, cosmos........

Before I forget..... a blogging friend of mine has three wonderful places to visit if you have a spare moment. Lots of interesting stuff and inspiration to be found! I can definitely recommend.......

Your embellished pics are great and I'm glad you had such a lovely birthday. Isn't your son like his Dad? I like the macro pics - I have that setting on my camera but never use it. My manual is on a CD and I like a book - yes, I know I'm a dinosaur!

Happy belated Birthday! Sounds like you had a lovely time. (love the photo of you with Peachy) Your DH sounds exactly like mine! LOL But like you, I would rather just play and fiddle and find out that way. Nice shots. :-)

Oh my! I was reading this post, admiring the beautiful flower photos, thinking I'd leave a comment about the beautiful flower photos, when what do I see at the end of the post but ME-ME-ME!!! Wowie! What a great start to my day. You make me feel so good. Thank you!

Also - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I like it that we are both LEOs - although I am on the cusp of Cancer. Actually, you share my mother's birthday. :-)

Back to the flowers - they are gorgeous. I LOVE MACRO. I, too, don't like to STOP to read the manual - but it is usually well worth it. You learn wonderful things!

Morna

I love the embellished pieces, Linda. I have the Lumix too and am not very good with the instructions. My macros tend to come out a bit blurry. Did you use a tripod? They are super pics. And great birthday pics too. See you next Friday :-)

Belated birthday greetings Linda. Looks like you had a lovely day indeed. Thanks for sharing some of those precious moments with us.
As for reading manuels well you bet I am like you. Hate those things never can understand them anyway so I find out by trial and error.
Your pictures are looking great and I look forward to seeing how you will embellish them

Happy birthday :)

I love the macro setting on my camera - one of the things I discovered (just by fiddling) is that if I use the macro setting AND zoom I get a lovely, softened and out of focus background.

No, play first, resort to the manual when repeated button clikcing doesn't work or you get an obscure icon! Glad you had such a fabulous birthday. :o)
