I Love Photoshop

I did a bit of Photoshop fiddling with my 'Born to Reign' painting (see sidebar left), using the photograph I took when it was half done.......

 .....then I changed it again.....

....and then I realised it reminded me of something I'd seen on a friend's blog recently.
The lovely Jo at Tanglefrost (who is talented with words as well as her hands) makes fantastic creations with leather and beads. She has made leaf brooches and pins for a while now but has just recently begun making flower crowns. I would LOVE one of these ......how wonderful to look as beautiful as Jo's daughter.

They are so original and would be perfect for weddings and special parties...have a look at the gorgeous photos in her etsy shop.

Speaking of friends.....Corrine at Dosfishes did a postcard swap with me and this is the great piece of art I received from her.....
Her blog is full of interesting photos, great collages, digi-art and recycled art....another recommended visit!

Back to Photoshop - I love using it for creative stuff  but also appreciate its value when it comes to repairing old photos. My mum recently gave me a picture of her and dad on honeymoon; it was badly damaged but it means a great deal to her so I had a go at repairing it. This is something I need to perfect my skills at, but mum was really pleased with my attempts. Here's the before and after......

(Please click on photos)
Then I had a go at a photo of my grandma (mum's mum) when she was a young woman (she's in the centre). I have a feeling the photo was cut up many years ago when they had a family dispute!!

That clone stamp and plaster...such amazing tools :-)

Have you guessed? I love Photoshop!!

Ooooh I nearly forgot - I went for a walk with DH (the Brown-Eyed-Boy) this afternoon and found these...

...any guesses what they are? They are 7cm long. (The place where I found them is a big clue.....but I won't give that away just yet :-)

I don't have photoshop o my laptop, but have a copy of elements not yet installed. I wouldn't know what to do with it though and if I can't do something it annoys me to death!

You did such a fabulous job with your photo repairs. I am amazed that PS can do such things. I have Elements and have not really taken much time to play with it but I sure can see the potential it would have to fix a few of my own old photos. I like the altering of photo fun best of all. The crowns are lovely as is your altered art.

Your painting is beautiful as is but the photoshop has emphasized it.

The hair piece is wonderful too. It looks so elegant. :)

I wish I could learn Photoshop. Do you know any good tutorials?

You did a great job with your photo repair, I'll bet your mom is happy with her renewed photos.

Is your mystery photo of figs that have fallen without having fully matured? That is my guess. Definitely something organic.

Love your family phots and what you did to them was great. Don't be eating those poppies seeds now... lovely pods, whatever they are.

Oh me too, me too. I love it. You have a great mastery of it methinks! I had some fun last week turning old photos vintage (did you see them on my blog?). I've been doing stuff at work too. Had a picture of some people in a meeting but they were too far apart so took several inches out of the length of the table! Love it!

WrightStuff said...

Oh yes, don't know what those seed pods are. Seem to be a cross between a poppy and a rose hip! Don't you just love that pattern in the top? Nature at her finest!

You truly are the photoshop queen! I've got it too but haven't done more than the basics, but you're shaming me into it. I love everything you do with it. Those things you found are incredible - they look a bit like poppy seed heads, or something of that sort ...

Your Mum must have been so pleased, those photo restorations are amazing. I also love what you did with PS and your painting. I am just beginning to get the hang of it and you are such an inspiration. Are those poppy pods? Not a clue really, except they look like
something in the Kemshall ladies quilts.....xox Corrine

I have been obsessed with my PSE this past week too Linda, as you know LOL and am so enjoying all the great tutorials out there for different effects. I love what you did with your painting, the flowers in the hair give her a whole new look. I would look rather silly wearing one of those I think :)

Great work on the photo fixing, I had to laugh about the photo that was cut in pieces, someone was mad at someone there hahahaha.

As for the green things you picked up, I have no idea, I see something that looks like a mushroom coming out of one.

More gorgeous images Linda, and those flower head-dresses are so lovely. Your Mum must be thrilled with the repair jobs you have done on those family photos - the results are amazing. I think those strange green pods might be the seedheads of waterlilies - we saw some on a recent walk. They look like strange little bottles bobbing about on the water.

I bow to you oh ps queen, not only creative but you can fix so many treasures! and I have no clue about those pods what are they???

Wow! Phenomenal work with PS!

I would have said the seeds were a type of poppy but I'm not too sure.

They look like a cross between figs AND poppies!

Love your inked papers & pre Raff collage - how I WISH I was near your class! Hope it went well today.

Fab swap with Corrine & your things, too ;)

Amazing photoshop work. I am always fascinated to see the amount of fabric that was allowed for the hems on dresses.

Aww thank you SO much my dear friend for featuring my faerie crowns on here and for your lovely encouragements too! Such a privilage to be featured amongst your own amazing creations - you really know how to work magic with photoshop! So useful to be able to restore such treasured photographs.

I also love Photoshop, it's such fun, and really useful.
Your mystery items look like some kind of seed heads or unripe fruits.

First off your painting is gorgeous Linda but I love that you are playing with Photoshop as well. Fantastic to incorporate new and (I think) really creative effects and different looks to original art. Totally inspiring as always!

Hi Linda (and Prince Peachy in the post below!). You are a whiz with photoshop and it has added another special dimension to your art. And the older photo's you have fixed via photoshop look great. I can understand your mum loving the one of her and your lovely dad on their honeymoon.
Oooooh....don't know what the goodies you found on your work - I am intrigued!

Hi I am Emelie, I am thrilled with everything I saw here, I like altering photos and layering also. You do a wonderful job and such good fixing on those photos, I looked and looked and it is really wonderful. A post down some also stuck my fancy with the hydrangeas, as I love them and the way they present their colors and form.

You can also scan favorite fabric into the computer and use in your layering. I do someof that with my paintings.

I will be back again.

I love PS also. In fact I teach it. There are thousands of tutorials on the web. Check out YouTube for video tutes. The best way to learn is to watch a tutorial and then practice, practice, practice. When I started most of the examples were done by young men and seemed to involve chrome and flames.

I try, in my blog, to make things that will appeal to a wider audience.
