Oh No.....She's a Boy!!!!

Update on the princess......she's a prince! My daughter brought the kitten round today so my mum could see it for the first time. We were all sitting round the table after dinner and Peachy was lying on my lap when my son glanced at 'her' and said thats definitely not a girl! Then my husband agreed and I must admit I began to have my doublts. Poor DD was told by the person she bought it from that it was female so she bought a pink fluffy bed, pink dish, pink poo tray etc...........oooops, well she can't swap them now! For the rest of the afternoon we all struggled to say he instead of she..........don't think DD saw the funny side :-)
Who's a pretty boy then.........

Had a wonderful time on Friday; spent the day with my new friend Maggi (To Dream to Stitch) and she took me to The Threshing Barn near Leek in Staffordshire. It was a lovely journey; beautiful countryside almost all the way. When we got inside I didn't know where to look first; the rainbow display of sari silk threads and ribbons, the shelves of wool and silk fibres in every imaginable colour, hand-made items, books, beads, buttons, kits, tools, dyes..... I didn't want to leave! We even got to see the new piglets in one of the farm buildings. We followed that with lunch in 'Fresh Basil' ...then I was lucky enough to see Maggi's amazing studio.
Did I buy anything.....what do you think!!!
Sari ribbons, sari silks, buttons and beads.....

......plus a bag of mixed wool fibres.

Here's the skein of sari ribbon shaken free of its plait....my fav colours!

Maggi kindly gave me some silk and curly wool (Wensleydale?) that she's dyed herself. Clever girl.
Now I need to get felting and sewing.......

Thank you for a lovely day Maggi :-)

Oh I nearly forgot......I have been making something over the past few days.
I've been stitching cords on the sewing machine.......great fun!

Your stitched cords are fabulous!
Wow!
And your finds at the Barn are gorgeous as well, especially the Sari ribbon....ooooh, I would love to find that too! You must have felt like a kid in a candy shop with a pocket full of coins!
Glad you had such a successful outing.
Hugs,
Terri

I'm sure the kitten will be loved, no matter what. The Threshing Barn sounds like Aladdin's cave and your goodies are gorgeous. Love the machined cords too.

all those threads and yarns and cords! scrumptious colors!!!
well

the little prince's items might can be a paint project?
or
think of it this way if you get him neutered and he becomes an it...let him take on those feministic traits and all those items will be gender friendly again
;)
besides aren't cats color blind
:)

Oh wow Linda what a fabulous day you had; you bought some gorgeous things, love all those wonderful colours and textures. You are going to have such fun with these.
Could your daughter just call the kitten Pinky then the rest doesn't matter. He is totally beautiful. Annette x

Oh, Linda, I had a good chuckle on that one. At long time ago we took our cat to be spayed, and when we picked him up, the vet said, "I neutered him instead." That was after he cut her/him open!
And believe me that cat was never the same again. At least your DD is spared that mistake!
Love those cords; how'd you do that?

Oh a prince not a princess.
He is so cute.

Your stitched cords are brillaint. Wonderful colors. Love them all.

Have a beautiful day my dear.

That happened to me, I was given a boy kitten and it was only when I took Maximus to the vets and he thought it a strange name for a girl that the truth came out! Sure your boy won't mind abit of pink but he can't be called PP, can he?? Love your buys, what wonderful colours and textures, sounds like you had a great day. Love the cords as well :)

Ohhhhh I am sooooo jealous, I LOVE all your fibers and sari ribbons, and to have a friend to spend time with who really enjoys the things you do, how wonderful is that? I would love to go shopping at the Barn, it sounds awesome :)

Poor Liz thinking her kitty is a girl and buying her all that pink stuff. Will she change his name now?

I've recently "met" Maggi and am envious that you got to have this little outing with her;-) Sounds like you had a great time and what luscious purchases you made! Love those cords you are creating too.

Kitty love is the same whether it be a male or female, he still looks to be a sweetie.

Let's hope Peaches is just adorable whether she's a girl or a boy. He looks very lovable.

I'm hoping to meet up with Maggi at the FOQ. Your day out sounds just the thing and so much gorgeous shopping. My colours too and I love the cords.

I know that Peaches will be loved regardless but his street cred ratings will be well down with that name and all the pink accessories!. Glad you enjoyed your day out, it was so lovely to see you again and those cords are very tasty - just for fun or have you a project in mind?

I love your finds! Such treasures ~ especially the mixed bag of wool.

Poor Peaches will not suffer long I predict ~ such a beautiful kitty no matter which gender.

Reminds me of my dear sweet Chelsea who turned out to be a boy. But he was so pretty nobody took him seriously and I never changed his name. He still had a remarkable fantastic life and was loved dearly!

Blessings ~ Katie

What a lovely day out and shopping trip - I could do with one of those! Never mind about Peaches - he's still the cutest kitty ever!!

Diana said...

Linda, that's hilarious! - but who cares if the kitten is a boy or a girl - either way, it's gorgeous - as are your purchases from last week. Mmmm!

How strange that the seller couldn't tell a boy from a girl, that said, the same thing happened to us when we got our dog many years ago but we kept him (after his long journey we couldn't bear to take him back). I'm sure your Prince will get over the pink and won't have an identity crisis.

LOVE the stuff at the Threshing Barn, I bet you were drooling over the lovely choices and the Fresh Basil food place looks YUM!
