Making Progress.....

I've been working on my Stef Francis project this week.....above are a few details showing how far I've got. There's still lots to do......

This is how it started....
.....with a bit of help from Peachy :-)
Then it involved some maths...... :-/
...lots of cutting and bonding......

.......and choosing of threads and beads.

The final stage is hand-stitching and beading.....which I'm loving doing.
And there are enough pieces left over to make another 3 or 4!

I've decided to join in with Jude Hill's Magic Feather Project (see link in side bar).... if you visit her blog you'll see she's kindly giving free tutorials and lots of information regarding the project.
My first attempt was a bit too large and clumsy (I'm not good with satin stitch :-/ )

So I had another go and maybe this one will be sent to Jude...along with a couple of others hopefully.
She's aiming for 1000!! If you visit her blog you'll see the 143 she's already received. I think there's a Flickr group too (and Facebook).

And finally.......a lesson in how to relax from The Grand Master. He has it off to a fine art.......
Just wish I had his gift :-)

Loving the look of your Stef Francis project and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I made a start on a feather piece for Jude while I was at Birmingham but I still need to finish it.

Peachey is very much the expert! ;-)

Ooh those Stef Francis pieces are wonderful. I used her threads for my metre piece when I did C&G. I love them.
Love the feathers too , and Peachy of course.

Peachy has impeccable taste when choosing the colours of fabrics for you to work with. No wonder the Stef Francis piece is so gorgeous. I love the feathers too - satin stitch is one of those deceptively simple stitches which is quite hard to perfect. Peachy could earn his keep by giving relaxation classes!

First of all, Peachy is a fine teacher!

Secondly, your newest textile adventure is amazing. Truly stunning work! It looks so fabulous with all those colors, textures and stitches. I love it!

Your satin stitch looks fine to me. What a lovely project.

Terri

I love this piece you are making! I really enjoy this sort of thing with all the pieces and colors and stitching and beading. Are the fabrics silk or cotton? Maybe a mix of both. How big is it? Looks fairly small. Very nice.
good thing you have Peachy helping, I can tell he has been helping a lot because he is obviously exhausted. Poor thing.

Oh, Linda, I have missed visiting your blog -it is so pretty and wonderfully inspiring and serene. Such a pleasure to come over and visit. This is gorgeous, I love the richness of the colors, the beading and stitching. I must check out the magic feather. Looks very interesting.

As I type this comment, I have my own in-home relaxation expert demonstrating her own techniques while meditating/purring...ahhhhh.

I have thought of this work for 3 days, then I had to really think about where I saw it. All summer I had my strips of fabric sewed, I love to make blocks and have them ve off a bit or a lot I like unbalanced art.

This is so beautiful, of course jewel like and rich in stitches.

Thank you for this inspiration, I do not make to sell I just create for.......because I have to.
