Accept.....

I'm struggling a bit with the prospect of Autumn and Winter this year. I've never been a fan, but for some reason I'm dreading the next few months even more than usual. I'm trying to be positive though, hence the digital piece above is for me.

The next three are my tributes to Autumn.......I do love the colours of the leaves and berries; I'm just not so keen on the dark evenings, rain and howling wind.

Images are my own, textures are from Kim Klassen and Shadowhouse Creations
Masks and brushes are from Designer Digitals.
Here are my originals.......apart from the rose which is a free photo from WikiCommons.

Last week we went for a walk around Elvaston Castle Country Park, just a 10 minute drive away from us. I thought I'd take some photos of the Autumn colours, but what I found was some rather gorgeous purple.

The berries are from a bush called Callicarpa americana .....more commonly known as 'Beauty Berries'. I've never seen them before and couldn't quite believe the amazing vivid colour.

Finally.......I've been having a play with Kim Klassen's PSE mosaic tutorial ('The Test Kitchen' - see side bar). I love the colours, but I still think I could do better....... (well its fun trying :-)

hhhmmm, wonder if it is premonition? at any rate your tributes to fall are stunning and like you, I am not the biggest fan of winter and the color white which will soon be covering everything outside! but one can dream of spring and gardens eh?!! xo

Wow Linda, everything is just yummy, the new banner options are wonderful and that purple. Maybe it's time
for a light box....I am not looking forward to dark at
4:30 in the afternoon either. xox Corrine

Brilliant! I fell at the first hurdle with the 10 day course and haven't got to grips with it at all yet! You have inspired me to try harder though. Love those images.

What beautiful pieces. You had me zoopming over to that digital scrapbooking site and buying up masks!! Now, I have all the fun of playing to look forward to :)

I know how you feel about this time of year. I tell myself the time passes so quickly we'll be altering the clocks again before we know it. Your new header is so beautiful, as are all your images - each one is a work of art. Your digital work is stunning - I could look at it for hours. Those purple berries are lovely aren't they - they look almost unreal.

These are just beautiful pieces, I love the textures and colours you have created. Keep thinking of those lovely smelly candles and the fire and all the wintery foods you have to keep you feeling cosy and content! Hope it helps ;)

of all the digi artists out there, your work is my favorite...i hope it can sustain you through the bleak months...i am not happy for the change this year either...although i am happy for the pleasant weather we've been having, i know the bluster is just around the corner...brrrrrr...are you going to dye something with the purple berries & leaves?

The dark evenings and winter approaching may not be your thing but it certainly has not diminished your artistself from expressing beautifully. These images are just gorgeous. I cannot see where you can improve, you are up there already. You are an awesome artist.

I love your new header and have just checked out all your links, thanks for those. I too have a bit of dread for the coming winter. With the weird summer we had, what is winter going to bring us? Plus I don't like wind storms, not with these two huge trees next to my house. So lets just immerse ourselves in our art work and ignore the scarier parts of winter!

These are all very stunning and inspiring. I've been working a bit with textures today too, and I don't have anything as beautiful as this! (note to self...must keep practicing). Sending some sunshine your way!

I hadn't realised you had done Kim's classes (Duh!) I'm starting her Skinny Photoshop Class on Monday which she is offering free and I'm looking forward to learning lots. Maybe once I've done that I'll join the 'Kitchen'. Your photos here are beautiful. I'm with you on the low feelings winter brings. It always seems to come round so quickly. Keep thinking, every day that passes is one day nearer Spring :)

These are gorgeous Linda! I love the second photo especially (my favourite).

I have been playing with Kim's mosaic but I'm having a little trouble getting the frames exactly right ie my colouring in of the frames isn't very good. I like your white mosaic frames. I must practice more!

Breathtaking beautiful! All of them!!

I'm not a fan of winter either, I was born in Brasil, and later I lived in South Africa; I've been living in Holland for 24 years now; I cannot get used to the cold.

Think of how glad you will be when spring comes again!

And keep on making these beautiful collages!

Wow-all of the pieces in this post are just wonderful-especially the autumn ones!

Love your autumn pieces, Linda. Our beauty berry gets yellow leaves, but it's a fun plant. It's about to get darker here, too, with the end of Daylight Savings; not my favorite time of year either except for the holidays!

I now how you feel about winter..especially as we had such a dreadful grey summer from the end of June. But you can remember how fast spring went by, so Winter will be as quick!
We have a bush with those purple berries in the garden..not many on it this year probably due to lack of sun.

Just want you to know how much you and your beautiful work inspire me, Linda! You led me to Suzi Blu's classes over a year ago (I finally think of myself as an artist as a result!), your felt work is gorgeous, and now you've directed us to so many cool places with your stunning digital art. THANK YOU.

Beautiful work, capturing the wistfulness of the season - this might be the last fine weekend for a while!

I understand your thought about shorter days. Let's hope that the suggestion that we change the clocks to improve our health actually happens.
Beautiful digital art. I really like the mosaics.

Spectacular!!! All of them, how and where could i start to describe the loveliness?
I havn't had chance to play with Kim's mosaics yet, but I think your's are fantastic :)
Love the purple leaves and berries, now that is a new plant for me too, wonder if we have them in Canada.
As for Fall and Winter, well yes, we have to accept it, and I do hate the dark days but when the sun is out like today it is beautiful :) Cozy up by the fire, stay warm and create to your hearts content.

Fabtastic new banner.
I feel the same this year about winter and I'm usually more stoic about it. I think it's because spring was so late this year, it was well into May before all the trees had their leaves on and we have had a lot of sunshine for us this year especially lately. But my money is on the late spring, all 2p of it :-)
All your photoshopped pictures are gorgeous, and the mosaic programme is wonderful. It jumbles up all the delicious colours and makes my eyeballs roam about a lot - which is good, a real feast for the eyes is your blog.
Shame I can't string a decent sentence together tonight :-)

I've just joined Kim's photoshop class, thanks to Mixed Media Julie! I thought it was about time.

There is such sensitivity & something like magic in your beautiful photos that I feel you must walk thru leaves smelling the earthy decay, feel the wind in your face & walk thru the gloaming towards home, knowing a warm fire awaits, making you feel so so warm & safe to get those results. Well, you could try it at least, how do you think I survive up here?!
