Fun at Ally Pally!

Maggi and I had such a great day at the Knitting and Stitching Show on Saturday, despite getting lost a few times on the London North Circular Road! Poor Maggi, she kept her patience very well and eventually we began to see signs for Alexandra Palace (they were in short supply!) We were there almost seven hours, but still only saw about 3/4 of the exhibits....... my head was spinning round in all directions; so hard to know where to start! Anyway, above you can see my purchases (spot the theme going on there?)
Below are all my favourite bits.....
I bought Frances Pickering's book 'Page After Page' which she signed for me and we watched her painting and drawing on fabric for a while. The book is an absolute delight ......
I did a class with Gwen Hedley called 'Take 100 Lines'; it involved cutting and piecing rectangles of fabric and attaching them with a variety of materials and stitches. It was lovely to meet a fellow blogger there from vintagebunty.blogspot.com  (her piece is on her blog). I did a bit more this morning  - this is probably the only time you'll see this colour-scheme on my blog :-)

And here we are at the end of the day...tired but happy! (Rosie - please note the gorgeous bag I took with me. Your stitching must be very strong - there was a lot in there!)

I love your purchases - all my favourite colours and items. I've never been to Ally Pally but have often been tempted but would need a stretcher by the end of the day! I like the piece you made in the class you did - lots of possibilities. I have Frances Pickering's book - it is fantastic isn't it? I was lucky enough to do a day school with her some years ago and to have her as my tutor on a course at Gloscat.

LOVE, love, love your purchases, some of my favorite colors and I know they are yours too :) The book looks wonderful, and your stitiching which is not your usual color scheme, that's what you mean about not seeing this color scheme on your blog again right?
So happy for you girls to get to spend a day there, maybe next time you could stay the night and have more time there, wouldn't that be fun?

By the way - love those hand-carved stamps you bought, I haven't had any new ones for ages, hmmmm ...

Your purchases are so inspiring and the book you bought is amazing.

I was surprised to see the pinks and reds! I too am very partial to the blues and purples, golds and greens.

Glad you had such a fab time. Now you must be just full to the brim of exciting ideas.

Hi Linda, Maggi said you'd had a bit of a trial getting there. I still think you're brave even trying, I'm a chicken! Honest! And your purchases are great. It would have been so nice to meet up with Blogees.

Oh you lucky gals! that must have been a fabulous show to be able to spend all that time there and not get the whole of it. And to be able to go with Maggi! Lucky you again! I love your purple and green purchases. And I especially love those stamps! I'm doing some stamping right now and not happy with these shallow stamps. I need some deeply incised ones for this project! Maybe I will have to make my own. thanks for sharing your fun trip.

No better way to get lost than with a friend and the reward seems so worth it ... you do get into the nicest things
You made me giggle about the red color scheme!
I just had occasion to meet a blogging friend too
3,000 miles away!

Oh wow, complete sensory overload! What an amazing time you had and love your photo display of your purchases.
Do I spy with my little eye some Derwent Inktense pencils? I really really love mine.
Page after page looks amazing, might have to put it on my Santa list, hope he's got a telescopic sack this year, we can rest assured it won't cockadoodle doo.
