Collage....And More Of Thassos

Had a day to myself yesterday so indulged in my favourite pastime......playing with ink and bits of paper!
Made a couple of tags and some backgrounds for mini-pictures which will be mounted on wood when they are finished.
(I was inspired to make tags by these lovely people....Sue at Heloise and Lorraine at Love of Collage.)

Just a few more photos of Thassos......

We had to travel by ferry to the island from the greek mainland....a 40 min journey.
Spotted this sculpture in the ferry port (Keramoti).

The entrance to the apartments where we stayed....the gardens were so peaceful.

There was a fabulous tree in the garden; can anyone help me out here.......is it a 'tulip tree'?

This wonderful old olive tree was close by....it could be over 1,000 years old. (Click to see a close up of the trunk.)

We saw this tree by the beach and wondered what it was. Then I saw Patty had written about one exactly the same on her blog. Apparently its a Mimosa tree.Thank you Patty! You can see her post here.

And finally...I photographed some sea holly (top right) and had a play with it in Photoshop. I've printed the turquoise one onto fabric and have started a quilted picture. If it turns out ok I'll show you!

Thats it! Thanks for sticking with me and getting to the end..... ;-)

and so very lovely is was from beginning to end dear Linda!

Love how you play with color !

Gorgeous pics of your getaway ... and imagine the Mimosa tree all around the globe!

The lovely waxy leaves and splendid white flower look like a Magnolia to me ... they are used here for colonial holiday wreaths and arrangements and the pods are quite nice too.

so glad you're back Lady!
have a wonderful weekend

I absolutely love your tags and your backgrounds. I spent the morning water coloring ATC backgrounds too. It is such a satisfying thing to do.
I love the bits of fiber you added to your tags, just perfect!
I enjoyed your photos, I think the tree is a magnolia, there are several on our street. The olive tree trunk is totally fab. And your Sea Holly photoshop work is also wonderful!
Thanks for showing us what you have been up to.
hugs,
Terri

Love the colors in those collages, my favorites. I think the tree could be a magnolia of some type. That's what it looks like to me.

Hi Linda, I've just come over from Maggi's blog. What lovely stuff you do!! And some great photos too.

The tree is Magnolia (Grandifolia prob) Tulip Trees are named because of the leaves Google images and you will see.

Be filled with Wonder and Peace.....and Cosiness

I hope you're managing to embrace this change of season. I'm so much better at accepting the end of summer than I used to be. I&...
