In Need of Some Beauty Treatment......

I've been working on my cloth and clay doll for the past couple of days...but I can't believe how ugly she is!!! I think tomorrow is going to be the crucial day - I can only hope that paint will be her saving grace. In fact, that is what I shall call her.........Grace.
Here she is waiting for her legs to be sewn on. Her skirt was soaked in coffee (deliberately - not an accident) and is now hanging on the line. Now you'll have to come back tomorrow, won't you.......if only to see if I can perform a miracle!

We had a day in Nottingham on Saturday and I bought this fabulous candle from the Token House; it smells amazing. But the pot is the best part....... how gorgeous is that!
Yesterday I gathered up all the hydrangea heads in the garden to dry them...such pretty colours.

And finally......in watercolour mode........

She might just surprise you and blossom into a beauty. Mine looked abit strange before the paint and I think she looks alot better now. It will be interesting to see how Grace turns out.

can't wait to see her painted! I have one finished up to just past yours -- I've sewn her together and gessoed her. And she's been waiting for her paint since last March! Just call me chicken......

You can pull off anything. Grace will be wonderful when you're done. I don't find her ugly at all. I'm pretty brave, but I don't think even I would try a cloth/clay doll. I buy my doll bodies and stuff, then paint. I've only done 2. LOL There is a lady that sells the most wonderful doll bodies out of muslin. So I utilize her talents. I hope she is still in business. I'm drying hydrangeas too. :)

we are often disappointed in how things progress with the project
(hunh)
give her time you will like her better
i like her in this state actually
so i know when you add the paints and fabrics that make her come to life
she will only blossom

She is coming on great. You will see her transform once you start adding colours. You have the magic touch to do that.
The post is lovely and what a lovely ideas about the Hydrangeas. Perhaps I should go and collect mine too. I might be too late after yesterday's deluge of rain we had.

Grace is wonderful before AND after, she is just SO charming and full of personality, I adore her thin arms and legs and her coffee dyed skirt is perfect Linda! What a fabulous creation and mantle sitter she is! Your talents never end!
Hydrangeas are so lovely aren't they, that is something I do not have growing in our garden.

Don't you just love it when the hydrangeas dry out like that? I love your watercolor version too :) What are you going to do with them Linda? I have had some in an arrangement for 3 years now and they are still beautiful. Oh and that candle is lovely the pot is perfect and you can use it afterwards:)

Oh lots to see on this post.

I love the flowers - I've not succeeded in drying any successfully so far but must try again as I want to try adding them to candles.

I love the rustic pot.

Your 'grace' isn't ugly she's just waiting for some character to be added.

LOL at her sitting in the coffee!

I've just discovered how good damsons are for dying things - my hands are a weird shade of dusty purple from processing the damsons ready for my next lot of jam!
