Tea on Tuesday ..... and a friendly moth!!

I'm actually posting my 'Tea on Tuesday' on the correct day for once! I've been sitting in the garden reading my Victoria Hislop novel with a cup of Redbush (or Rooibos) tea...... gorgeous with or without milk. (Can you see my blue pebble fountain in the background?)
Cheers Kimmie! I shall be over soon to see what you're up to.

Victoria Hislop wrote 'The Island'; one of my all time favourite books which I read by a pool in Crete with Spinalonga Island in my view. I wish I was reading this one in Grenada!
I hope its going to be as good as The Island- I'll let you know.
Yesterday evening we were sitting outside and spotted this moth on the wall....I looked it up on Google and apparently its a Poplar Hawk Moth. Its body was so chubby and furry..... it looked almost cuddly!
It sat very nicely for a photo on my hand......

......and on a leaf. What a cute face!!!!!

(Click for a close-up)
I altered an ATC woodblock today - just because I felt like it. The photo is from our family archives...the gel transfer didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped but I think its ok. All the usual layering took place; torn text, paper napkins, gesso, stencils etc.......

Here's the photo - please feel free to use if you want to.
Hope you're having a lovely day, wherever you are........

Beautiful post today :)
My 7 yr old tells me (she saw your moth) that the large moths are endangered. You are quite lucky to have found such a very very cool one and even held it in your hand! Wow!
I love the altered block. The faded quality of the gel transfer is a very cool effect.
Happy Tuesday and thanks for joining us!

ooo where to begin, what a wonderful post! Your little pet hawk moth looks like you felted him a little coat ;) Fab Photos!!!!
Your block is splendid the colors are WOW and I think it turned out perfectly, I know how it is when you have a little something different in mind. I need to make one for a local one for one swap soon! Some of the gals call the altered blocks ATBs (artists/altered trading blocks)
Your books sound like a wonderful getaway each time you open the pages!
Happy Tea Tuesday Linda ~ you made it extra fun!

Wow!...I love your wood block. it's very beautiful...the transfer worked out as it was meant to, it is perfect as it is,and the flowers ..how did you do those?...
I haven't been able to do transfers as I like. I think its because I try to make them too perfect....xx

Love the ATC woodblock and the photos of the moth are amazing. I have designated today 'Water Wednesday' as I've been so hot and found it almost too hot for tea - most unusual as I love tea.

Just been catching up on the posts I missed while my computer has been out of action...lots of great eye candy.
The little ATC wood block is beautiful, very detailed and delicate. Loving this fabric work too (and thanks for little tutorial on how-to).
I envy you spending time in that lovely garden area...bit too chilly here to do that I'm afraid. Hear you have been having a heat wave in the UK!

I'm back again! re the comment you left on my blog about selling my threads - I have sold similar ones in the past for £1 a skein. If I had been better organised this time I could do the same, but some have 8 threads, some 10 and so on. It's also difficult for people to tell exactly what colours are in them. I might put some on our sales table at the next exhibition.

First of all your atc block is absolutely gorgeous, so romantic looking with it's soft colors, and I love the piece on top :)
The book "The Island" makes me think of Su, she read it in Greece too, she travelled all over the world before her aneurysm, I am sure she would have loved to read this book set in Granada :)
And what an awesome photo of that moth, I don't think I have seen one so close up before.

I love Roobios tea! I'ts one of my favorites. The little moth is actually kind of cute. I've never examined them that closely. The photo reminds me of some that I have of a Praying Mantis who became my close friend one evening long, long ago. I have some great 35m shots of that guy. He was so cool.

Your work is always breathtaking and makes me smile. I hope you're having a wonderful week.

Hi, Linda! I really like your chunky ATC! I think the gel transfer looks great ... gives a very ethereal quality to some of the layering!

By the way, I've nominated you for an award over on my blog. Hope you'll come on over and check it out! :-)
