Shells

Rosie has made a gorgeous piece for our shell challenge on http://bigartadventure.blogspot.com/
I will make something over the weekend, but this afternoon I just made a quick 'twinchie' in between jobs. I like this size of art, 2"x2" is great to work with.

I've been a collector of shells for many years and have some lovely ones...but these are my favourites. Many years ago we visited a beach in France that was totally covered in shells - but they were all absolutely tiny.....every single one. There must have been some kind of disaster that caused them all to die so young. I suppose its quite sad really! Even more amazing is the huge variety; there are tiny cowries, wentletraps, scallops, limpets, periwinkles, oysters, tusk shells - to name but a few!

Some aren't much bigger than a grain of rice - and yet the colour and detail are amazing. They will be perfect for using in a piece for the challenge....I just haven't decided what yet!!

Last night DH and I went to see the new Star Trek film (a prequel)...and it was just BRILLIANT!

I wouldn't normally call myself a Trekkie, but I really enjoyed it and was hanging on to my seat for much of the time. The young actors do a fantastic job of impersonating the original cast, especially Spock and McCoy.

.....live long and prosper.......

I love your sea twinchie. And those tiny little shells are great, almost fairy-size. I can't wait to see what you make with them.

can't wait to see what results the shell challenge brings!! your twinchie is great!! i love shells too but now i just look for ones with holes in them...an idea shared from a friend...she strings them on a necklace as she walks the beach..

Linda,

Your miniature shells are amazing!! Quite often I can find a small deposit of tiny shells left after a low tide. They are actually my favorites. They have everything the big ones do just in a much smaller package :)

I'm putting together an idea for a round robin stop by my blog maybe you might like to join the fun??

Love the twinchie.

Those shells are shouting 'jewellery' at me but you'd need a very fine drill or needle even if they were strong enough to withstand the holes - maybe they could be glued onto flat bits? Hmmmmmmm - our shells aren't half as pretty or dinky as these but I can still look can't I?

Your inchie is beautiful. Wow such lovely shells. I too collect shells whenever I go to the seaside. Even if I don't use them for anything I just like to go looking for them on the beach.

ooo sweet twinchie and I SO agree! your seashells make my mouth water, I adore shells
last year we had to buy an extra suitcase to bring back shells from Sanibel Island in FL, lots of scallop and more
I was much better behaved this year, I am surprised I admit to hauling so many back home, I give them top billing
It's a another brilliant challenge, How lovely for Rosie to get away and soak up some sun, lucky gull!
DH is a trekkie fan we must get to THE movie!

Love your beautiful twinchie Linda (that just doesn't sound right somehow...), turquoise is my favourite colour after shiny colour. A girl can never have enough shells (never mind shoes-pah!).
Looking forward to seeing your creation.

My husband went ahead and saw this movie in the theaters but I'm waiting for it to come on blue ray. I'm not much of a theater person.

I'm psyched so far to hear all the good reviews it's getting.

Be filled with Wonder and Peace.....and Cosiness

I hope you're managing to embrace this change of season. I'm so much better at accepting the end of summer than I used to be. I&...
