A Sad Day

Today we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Pebble. She was 20 years old and for the past couple of months her health had been deteriorating. She had arthritis, kidney problems and hadn't eaten for over a week. The vet agreed it was the kindest thing to do. Brian held her but I had to go and sit in the car - I'd already blubbed enough.
I'll miss our conversations...she could say 'ham', 'out' and 'buff' (that meant milk) and she did a great Chewbacca impersonation when she wanted to go in Liz's room.
She had a good life, bless her, I console myself with that.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, when a pet lives that long you have such a sense of history with them that it hurts more to have to lose them. Yes, what you did was a kindess to her - I think it is the last responsibility of an owner when a pet is nearing that end, to let them go painlessly. Pebble looks like she had a lot of "purr-sonality" when she was running your home (as they all do).

I was sad to read about Pebble. As Rosemary says there's a lot of family history there. I have never had a pet so I can't really say that I understand but I am so sorry that you have lost what must be a family member ...

Oh sweetie...I am so sad that your Pebble has left you. She sounds like she was such a beautiful girl; full of personality. I smiled at the thought of her Chewbecca impersonation. And cried at the thought of Brian holding her as she passed over.

I know she would have had the best life with you and that she leaves a big hole too.

Our fur babies wrap their way around our hearts and give so much love.

I am thinking of you and sending you love and support (and my kitties do too).

Oh Linda, my heart goes out to you on the loss of your dear Pebble. These furry members of our family become so ingrained in our lives and enhance our living. I know that you will miss dearly. Giving them a good life is indeed one of the greatest gifts you can give. Be kind to yourself as you grieve!

So sorry to hear of your loss pebbles was indeed a beautiful cat.
20yrs is a long time and I do know she would have been part of the family... Both you and Brian did the right thing although it's heart breaking it was the kindest thing you could have done.
Be kind to yourself knowing what you did was the best for pebbles.
take care.

They leave their pawprints all over your heart don't they? I still cry remembering my beautiful Tilly, and I only had her for 3 years. I know you will miss her dreadfully, but you definitely did the right thing.
