Soul Journal pages 7 and 8....part 2

I am ashamed to say I posted a picture of these pages last night - then deleted it half an hour later. I'm struggling with the naive quality - but that's not what this journal is about. This morning I have decided they are ok (-ish).
My favourite houses are the ones I see on Greek islands and these drawings are supposed to represent the manor houses on Symi. They are really beautiful and they are all set in the hillside overlooking the amazing harbour.

Here's the pocket in my house - awaiting more instructions!

Linda I am so glad you re posted, my google reader picked it up and I went to comment but then it was gone. I have to say I don't find anyting naive about this page, the colours and syle with which you have painted the sky particularly is very sophisticated. I love the painterly way you have completed this work. It looks simple rather than naive. Does this make sense? I wanted to say have aith, all is not what we feel sometimes.

Im glad you have re posted Linda, I like them, I know what you mean but this is all new for you.....you have atc's and dolls and russian dolls etc all off to a fine art and im sure you feel that way because this is all new, but you have nothing to worry about , its lovely and im sure before long you will be doing more and feeling right at home. Art is all about expression at the end of the day, no right or wrong way to do it......Smile, you are doing a great job, Jaqi x

I'm glad I decided to skip on over to your cyberhood! The colorful, cozy houses beckon to at least stay for a cup of tea!

I tried my hand at waterpainting once and found it magically therapeutic and fulfilling - I always said one day I'll take some classes - Your fun, expressive projects are inspiring! Perhaps here in LA, is one more teacher ready to stay home and paint!!

PS, thanks for you lovely comments before---

You're much too hard on yourself, Linda! Your houses are great! Are you doing this project as part of a challenge or a class?

I think your pages are very pretty myself, and I love the colors they feel as though it is a quiet and tranquil place.

They are not "ok-ish" they are beautiful! I absolutely love them! I love the colours and the newsprint and the lettering. I always find that the things I make that I don't think are very successful tend to be the peices that everyone else likes. Each to there own I suppose.
Thankyou for your lovely comment.
Kylie was amazing and fab as always and I absolutely love Mamma Mia! It's so funny and Julie Walters is so much like my auntie lol!

Hi Linda, I am very glad you brought your pictures back. I could tell right away where they are depicting (I'm originally from England) and they made me feel warm and nostalgic. You have a unique voice, and I'm glad you're sharing it with us. Please keep going, and don't listen to those sensor voices - your muse knows whats right. Hugs, Jane

well, your houses are lovely and your colors are just beautiful. they are so calm and do indeed remind me of the picture of the greek island homes. since this is just a journal i think it is ok to let go a bit and try / experiment with a style that wouldn't be something you would normally create.
